Represents the ceremonial offering of kumara, with rising steam symbolising a sacred gesture to the stars of Matariki. This element acknowledges the challenges and growth of the past year, while seeking guidance for the journey ahead.

Tāniko Whetū – Kahui Whetū o Matariki
A woven star pattern symbolising the rising of the Matariki cluster. This motif speaks to the interconnectedness of all life, the renewal of the seasons, and the promise of fresh beginnings.

Pakura Whakairo – Gathering of Descendants
A traditional carved motif reflecting unity, wairua, and warmth as whānau come together in remembrance and celebration. It embodies the strength of our collective ties.

Whakapapa – Traditional Colours
Grounded in customary Rongowhakaata hues: earthy reds, beige, and black. These tones honour our tīpuna and the legacy they leave within us.
